Aboriginal post-secondary education and training institutes are integral to the economic and social
development of Aboriginal communities. Our member institutes are the vehicles which support life-long
learning and provide a basis for the continued development of human resources within Aboriginal
communities. Aboriginal Institutes currently do not receive formal recognition or regularized funding.

The Aboriginal Institutes' Consortium is striving to develop formalized processes with Aboriginal,
provincial and federal government and the private sector that will legitimize the products of Aboriginal
Institutes and ultimately, create mechanisms for access to resources to foster the capacity
development of Aboriginal Institutes in Ontario.
